Tunnel of Oppression: Interactive Galleria Nov 5-6 Kresge Town Hall

October 24, 2013

Greetings faculty and staff,

On behalf of Porter and Kresge Colleges, we are proud to invite you and your students to attend the Tunnel of Oppression.

The Tunnel of Oppression is an interactive galleria that highlights contemporary issues of oppression. It is designed to introduce participants to the concepts of oppression, privilege, and power. Participants are guided through a series of images and other information that aims to educate and challenge them to think more deeply about issues of oppression. At the end of the tour, participants are provided with the opportunity to discuss their experiences. Facilitators will be present to help participants reflect on their experience and how they can use this new knowledge in their everyday lives to create change.

Themes this year will include:

How You Can Help
The tunnel of oppression is open to the entire campus of UCSC. We would greatly appreciate any effort you might take to engage your students with this program including requesting their attendance for class or extra credit, or more simply, if you would consider advertising it to your students.
