Allah Yerhamha (Rest In Peace): Shireen Ahsan

February 01, 2016

"She passed through glory's morning gate and walked in paradise"

The UCSC Community, along with the family of Shireen Ahsan would like to hold a gathering for friends, family, students and community to come share memories, stories, and pray for Shireen. Please join us at 7pm Tuesday evening, February 2, in the Kresge Town Hall.

Shireen lived in Kresge College as first-year student and remained active in the community as an Academic Assistant with the core course and the Muslim Student Association. Kresge College, alongside the rest of UCSC, and the Ahsan family want to give everyone an opportunity to come join us in remembering this role-model in the community.

A beautiful flower swept away into eternity
Nineteen years of piety was her destiny
Left behind impressions so steadfast
of love and affection so strong to last
Will remain fresh in our soul and heart
her innocence her kindness her smile
like a shining star in the darkest vile
With tears of sorrow and pain
we remember you again and again

~Mazhar A Khan

Her family has created a Facebook page in her memory.

We want to extend support to all students, faculty, and staff who may need it. Tragic news can be difficult to process. We encourage students who wish to speak with someone to contact Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at (831) 459-2628.  Faculty and staff may wish to call for information on the Employee Assistance Program at (831) 459-3573.
