Housing at Kresge
Kresge College is composed of three main sections: Kresge Proper, Kresge East, and the Porter/Kresge Apartments. Among them there are 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 person apartments.

Kresge Proper houses primarily seven- to eight- person "suites" and five-person "flats" in 59 apartments and ten buildings. In addition, there are three "triplets" (three-person apartments) and two "lofts" (six-person apartments). Kresge Proper is typically where most frosh are housed. It is also where the main offices, the Café, the Co-op, and the mailroom are.

Kresge East is across a ravine and is reached via two convenient foot-bridges. It has 29 five-person apartments in five three story buildings each.

The Porter/Kresge Apartments are our newest addition. They are 48 three-person apartments located just below Kresge Proper in the Infill area between Porter and Kresge Colleges.

Apartment Themes
CA Apartments - These apartments have CAs (Community Assistants) living in them. Living in a CA household entails some extra responsibilities including keeping a consistently cleaner, quieter apartment, strictly adhering to the campus-wide policies, and hosting the occasional prospective student. These apartments also have distinct advantages. Apartment-mates of CAs typically tend to become more involved in community leadership, college life, and social activities and get a better understanding of UCSC and Kresge.
Substance Free - These apartments are for students who do not want alcohol or other drugs in their apartment. Members of these households agree on behalf of themselves and any potential guests of theirs not to bring any substances into the apartment whether or not they are over 21.
Single Sex - These apartments are all male or all female. If this is requested by you it will always be honored.
Co-ed - These apartments are for students who agree to live cooperatively with both males and females. However, bedrooms are ALWAYS single sex and the apartments are gender balanced.
Academic Intensive - Specifically for students who want a quiet residential living environment that is conducive to study
Casa Luis Valdez - Kresge has an apartment building dedicated to the life work of Luis Valdez of El Teatro Campesino. The theme of Casa Luis Valdez is theater, film, and Digital Media and special programming in these areas is available to residents and members of the community.
LGBTIQQA Apartment - This LGBTI theme housing was established to support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered, and Intersex students in a positive, comfortable living environment. The building tailors its residential programming to meet the needs of LGBTI students. While LGBTI students live throughout Kresge College, this theme building offers focused events on issues of particular interest to our LGBTI residents, as well as offering a social environment that some of our LGBTI students prefer.
