Permaculture Design at Common Ground

Citizens from Portland, Oregon employ permaculture with "the City Repair Project", transforming intersections into public gathering places, rainwater harvesting gardens, and inter-generational centers for sustainability while at the same time decreasing crime, isolation, and carbon emissions.

Permaculture is an ethically based whole-systems design approach that uses concepts, principles, and methods derived from ecosystems, indigenous peoples, and other time-tested systems to create human settlements and institutions.

Common Ground Center is pleased to offer Kresge-161: Permaculture and Whole Systems Design. Please check the class schedule, or email us to see when the course will be offered next or for a copy of the syllabus. Additionally, Common Ground Center itself is an intentional example of permaculture design through the articulation and embodyment of our core ethics and principles.
