Writing Center + Writers House
Located inside the Kresge Study Center, Kresge's Writing Center holds the Creative Writing Program archives. Writing tutoring is available at the center each quarter, and there are open hours for students who wish to use the computers, resources, or space for writing-related projects.
Students interested in creative writing and journalism, regardless of major or college affiliation, may join Writers House. Writers House residents can edit the Writer's House blog, use the Kresge Writing Center, participate in Writer's Society (a weekly writing group), and they enjoy priority enrollment in Kresge courses such as the creative writing and art & visual performance labs. Kresge also has limited funds for one-time workshops. Past workshops include Novel Writing, Writing for Young Adults, and Comic Book Writing. Students in Writers House also create their own opportunities, from informal writing groups and readings to writing prompts left in the laundry room to putting on a "how to write a great sex scene" panel to a "literary" dinner featuring food from Harry Potter to participating in NaNoWriMo. When you're living with a group of writers, the creative possibilities are endless.
