Research Interests

Author of Intelligence Work: The Politics of American Documentary (Columbia UP, 2008) and editor of The Documentary Film Reader: History, Theory, Criticism (Oxford UP, 2016). Currently writing a book on the memorial, historical, educational and political uses of reenactment in film, TV, and performance before and after 9/11, titled Going Through the Motions: Screen Reenactment and the Work of the Past.

Biography, Education and Training

Undergraduate degrees (B.F.A. film production; B.A. English literature) from York University, Toronto; M.A. in English and American literature from University of Minnesota, Twin Cities; Ph.D. in American literature, cinema, and cultural theory from Rutgers University, New Brunswick.
