Kresge College Zero Impact Initiatives
Zero Impact is a student organization dedicated to supporting community conservation efforts at Kresge College at UC Santa Cruz.
1) Composting - You can request a compost bin for your apartment, but you will need to empty it into one of five compost containers around the college. To get a bin, fill out a fixit request (http://fixit.ucsc.edu). See more information here.
2) Recycling - Your apartment is ready to recycle. Get more information here. NEW - KRESGE GOES SINGLE STREAM. SEE THIS FLYER.
3) Use a pencil - Why do you use a plastic, disposable pen? Write us about your interest in conservation, and receive a free set of Kresge pencils. Email cdperry (at) ucsc.edu.
4) Have a Conservation Plan in Your Apartment - Do you need signs, maps or additional recycling bins? Does your housemate leave the windows open with the heat on? Ask us for help, email cdperry (at) ucsc.edu. Or use some of these reminders: print and place with scotch-tape around your apartment. See our sticker ideas for water conservation, energy use, light switches, & recycling promotion & implementation.
5) Bring A Cup - Get in the habit of bringing a reusable cup or bottle whenever you go to class, the dining hall, a cafe, a meeting or an event.
6) See other ways you can save resources in the office and at home, and all around.
